Ice Cream, Diamonds, Bugs, and Palm Beach

I had such a fun weekend.

Friday was a holiday here in Utah... The 24th of July, otherwise known as Pioneer Day. It tends to be an even bigger celebration than the 4th... we're weird, I know.I went over to Auri's house to hang out with her and the kids. I was supposed to bring dessert but didn't think anything I bought at the grocery store was going to be good, so I decided we'd go out for ice cream after dinner. We got ice cream at Cold Stone and then sat out by the fountain to eat it. The weather was perfect!

Taryn was sitting on my lap (earlier in the evening) and pointed to my earrings. She asked me what they were and I told her they're my diamonds. She then asked if she could have some diamonds for her birthday. I told her that she should probably go ask her Daddy! Daddy didn't think it was very funny... "Did Tata tell you to say that?"
We decided to do toes later that night and let Taryn stay up to have her piggies painted. Auri even gave her jewels on her big toes for her birthday. After she was done I asked Auri if she wanted me to repaint all of her toes, or just redo her big ones and "juge" (How the hell do you spell that? Pronounce it: jooge) the rest. Taryn said she wanted some "juge," too. It was pretty cute. I fixed Auri's toes and she re-painted mine and now we both look fab!
Went to dinner at Trio on Saturday night with Auri, Noelle, Rose and Su Yung (a friend of Rose's from out of town). Dinner was yummy and the drinks were divine and afterwards we headed to The Bayou for a beer. I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried the Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier and was very pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

Remember from last week when I told you I was afraid I had bed bugs? Yeah, so much fun, let me tell ya. Anyway, on Wednesday night I stripped the bed and blah, blah, blah (go back and read the post if you want specifics) and I ended up sleeping on the couch for four nights because my stupid down mattress topper wouldn't dry (and I think I subconciously didn't ever want to get back into my bed). By the time I got home on Friday night I was too tired to put the bed together so I stayed on the couch again. I finally made my bed on Saturday night, but I stayed up until 4 AM crocheting and reading afraid that when I turned off the lights, the bugs would emerge and commence biting me. I'm happy to report, I'm bite free! And my bed is more comfortable than ever!

Yesterday I had a ton of good intentions and then blew them all out the window. At the end of the day, I ended up getting a lot accomplished, but not everything on my original list. Noelle had set up her pool (you may remember the rooftop pool from Torrey) in her sister's backyard (she's house sitting) and invited me to come over. The pool was fantastic. I got to sit in the cool water with the sun beating down on my skin, read my naughty book, sip my refreshing iced tea and just CTFO (Chill The Fuck Out, for those of you who don't know the acronym). It was awesome! Because their last name is Palm, we named the backyard and pool, Palm Beach. We thought we were funny!
After the "beach" I replaced all the lightbulbs in the basement, had dinner with the family, shopped for Taryn's birthday and babysat the kids for a couple of hours. When I got home I watched my shows, crocheted a bit more and went to bed (a bit too late)! And to think I didn't even get out of bed until Noon! You should be proud!

Aurs - If I ever have money, I'll buy you diamonds... promise!

Frogs - Yeah, I'm lucky like that, even though I feel guilty when I sleep that late!

Captain - Break out some of that vodka for cryin' out loud!

Jaime - God, I hope I'm bug free. More than that, I hope I never had them in the first place!
