Who Cares? Comcast Cares!

Saturday was Comcast Cares Day at Meadowlark Elementary School where Ms. Willard, aka Noelle teaches 5th grade. Debbie, Maddie, Noelle, myself and about 300 other volunteers met at the school at the ass-crack of dawn to paint and clean the building.

We were assigned to the painting team and ended up painting 3 different hallways. The four of us started in the blue hallway doing trim and roller work, moved into the purple hallway (where Ms. Willard's room is), and then finished up in the Kindergarten hall.

Throughout the morning we climbed up on counter tops, ladders and chairs, knelt down on our knees, and scooted around on our butts on the floor. By the end of the morning, we'd all but lost our minds! By the end of it all, Maddie even went so far as carjacking a school bus and trying to get the hell outta Dodge! Too bad we didn't let her leave!

In all seriousness, it was a really great way to spend a Saturday morning. We all had a lot of fun working together and making the school a better place for the students. Noelle said the kids were all very impressed when they came into the building this morning... and that makes it all so worth it!

Naturally, after working so hard for 5 hours, we were exhausted... so Noelle and I went over to the park and sat in the sun for a few hours. This was my artistic shot of my toes... pretty good, eh?! Maybe if I start planning now, I'll be mentally and physically prepared for next year!
