On Monday night, Auri, Jessica, Brittany and I went to the Jack Johnson concert at Usana. Jessica and I found out he was coming in concert back in April or May and bought tickets the day they went on sale. I also got a ticket for Auri and told her that it was her birthday present. A friend of Jessica's also bought a ticket and was planning on going with us. She later found out she'd be out of town, so Jess invited her sister-in-law, Stacey, to go with us. At the last minute, Stacey couldn't go either, so Brittany was free that night and was able to join us!
I picked Auri up after I got off of work and realized I needed gas, so I suggested we grab hot dogs from Costco for dinner while I filled up the tank. Five bucks for the two of us for dinner was great. Auri and I drove out to the amphitheater and parked in the lovely parking lot. We parked exactly where we were told to park by the parking nazis. Once we got through the gates, we walked to the grass and found a great spot over on the right side.Aurs and I hung out for a while and waited for Jess and Britt to get there (Jess picked up Britt from work and they drove together). While we were sitting there there were guys coming around with beer... I thought they had kegs strapped to their backs, but it turns out they just had cans (they had to pour the beer into cups so stupid people wouldn't throw cans at the stage).
Britt and Jess finally got there at about 6 or so and we all got situated. The smartest thing we did was to spread out three big blankets for the four of us to share and ensure we had enough room without everyone else sitting on our laps.
Jack had two bands open for him... the first was Neil Halstead. We all really liked his music... very reminiscent of Jack. The second band was Rouge Wave. I'd never heard the name before but recognized one of the songs they played. We liked them a lot, too.
Jack came on a little after 9 PM and played for almost two hours. We all stood for a little bit to watch, but then the four of us sat down to enjoy the music. We were hoping that all the lame-os in front of us would sit down, too, but they didn't. We couldn't figure out why everyone was standing up the whole time. Jack's music doesn't warrant standing the whole time. These people weren't even dancing! Jerks! We enjoyed the music in any case, and that's why we went there... duh!
When the concert was over we hung around for about 10 minutes
and waited for everyone to clear out and get in their cars because I told the girls that no matter when we left the grass, we'd still be sitting in the parking lot trying to get out for about an hour. Sure enough, once we got to the car, it took us almost an hour to get out of the parking lot. I cannot understand why Usana is so worried about packing all the cars in there in just the right way, but apparently isn't concerned about getting its customers out of the parking lot either safely, or in a timely manner. They suck!
In any case, the four of us had a fabulous time... even if we didn't get home until 1 AM and all had to get up early the next morning!
