6 Girls Running Amok in Torrey

Two items of note: 1) The narrative is a bit lengthy... 2) This is the trip from MY perspective!
Over President's Day weekend the girls and I took a little road trip down to Torrey, Utah. Most people have never heard of Torrey, even people who live in Utah, so it's always kind of fun to give a little explanation. Basically it's in the middle of nowhere and it's gorgeous! Half the group headed down on Friday afternoon while the rest of us (Noelle and I) drove down Saturday morning. The drive on Saturday was less than stellar... as in, it was snowing like crazy! And if you know Noelle, you know she doesn't deal with driving in the snow. Needless to say, we pulled over on the side of the road at one point so I could drive. My first time with a clutch in the snow and I didn't do too badly! We got to the house in about 4 hours and were so happy to see the girls. Everyone was still in their jammies, so we unloaded the car, changed into ours, and chilled for the rest of the day! No better time to chill than when in Torrey and the biggest snowflakes you've ever seen are falling outside. Rose and Seifert ran to get supplies at the grocery store and then Rose ended up going for a drive into the park after that without Seifert. Kasian brought lunch for the day and we had chicken salad sandwiches with chips and veggies. Sooo yummy! Later that afternoon we got out the swimsuits and cocktails and jumped in the hot tub. Noelle had a fabulous idea on the way down in the car and decided to crochet everyone ear muffs to wear in the hot tub. The last time we tried hottubbing in the snow was a bad idea. We nearly froze to death. Noelle is a master crotcheter so she whipped those puppies out in about an hour. We somehow managed to not get a picture of us all in them! I think there's one floating around somewhere... I'll try to track it down. We made ravioli with a vodka-style marinara sauce for dinner Saturday night and coaxed Kasian to come join us after sleeping off the effects of one-too-many cape cods in the hot tub. That girl knows how to rally! The rest of the evening was spent sitting by the fire, crocheting, knitting, listening to music, shakin' our groove thangs, and gabbing. Come to think of it, that's what we did ALL WEEKEND LONG! What else did you think we were going to do?
Sunday morning rolled around and we all got up on our own time, had a bite to eat, and then remembered that Rose was in charge of Brunch that day. By the time everything got made and we all got situated, we were ready for food when it was done! Not too bad, Rosie Marie! Good job! After we got cleaned up we threw our clothes on and went out to adventure through the park (what was accessible and open to us, anyway). It was pretty chilly outside but was pretty much perfection if we stood in the direct sun!

We spent a good two hours dorking around in the park (Capitol Reef National Park, that is) and then headed back to town. We stopped for a tasty treat at the local burger joint and then a few of the group went to the souvenir store for some goodies. While pulling out of the parking lot at the diner, Rose just about backed into Noelle's car... quite comical, but I suppose you had to be there to appreciate it. Back at the house we made tacos for dinner and gorged ourselves on yummy stuff! There was a bit more time in the hot tub, but it was a lot colder outside that night. Temp was 17 degrees F and with the wind chill, it got down to 3 degrees F! Monday morning was Go-Time so we all had to get up, eat breakfast, clean the house, do dishes, and get the house ready to be in shut-down mode for a month or two. Man, get six women in one house cleaning, you'll be done in 20 minutes, tops! We were awesome. Well, I didn't help with much because I hopped in the shower once they got started... but they did a wonderful job!

Can't wait for our next trip down there! Thanks to all my fabulous girlfriends for such a fun weekend! Mwah!
