The One Where I Thought Painting Would Be Fun...

A few months back I decided I was going to paint the family room and kitchen to try and spice up the house. Looking at white walls 24 hours a day starts doing weird things to one's mind. Being that I have no energy left from painting all. effing. weekend. and the fact that I'm trying to pack, this is going to mostly be a story through pictures. Jessica and I ran to Lowe's on Thursday to get some small sample paint cans to try on the walls and some Frog Tape so I could get to work doing prep work. On the way home, we saw this cloud... I'll let you figure out what it looked like.

The first pic up above is the before of the kitchen. The ones above and below are of the family room and dining area, respectively. Don't pay attention to the mess...
On Saturday Jessica said she'd come over, but I couldn't judge what she was wearing. I told her as long as she wore her tiara, everything would be fine. Naturally, she didn't have one, so....
I bought one for each of us! Yes we're dorks, but ya know, you gotta have fun! We actually wore those damn things until we finished about 5 hours later!
Noelle texted us on Saturday afternoon and asked how things were coming. Does the look on my face tell you anything? Here's a look at the paint going on the wall... just so you can get an idea of the difference...

We almost got everything finished Sunday night, but had to do a few more things on Monday. When I woke up on Monday morning, I could hardly move. I had no idea how exhausting this was going to be. Here is the finished kitchen, minus a few touch ups that need to be done... and the backsplash that I'll be doing in two weeks.
I took these afters during the day so the lighting makes it a bit difficult to see the color... just look at the contrast between the baseboards and the walls.
The painting is done... I need to finish the touch up work and hang the picture on the wall, but all in all, I think we did a pretty damn good job!

Thank you, Wiki... I couldn't have done it without you. I'd probably still be knee deep in paint, or dead from having fallen off the ladder!

Painting always seems like a lot more fun before you actually start doing it. The color looks great though!

Found you through Cass. Basically I saw the "Salti" and had to stop by! Love your blog and the fact that you painted in a tiara. You're my kind of lady.
